Ann Arbor, Michigan, October 22, 2014 — The Coherix Shark platform is a high performance embedded hardware solution that leverages tight integration with Coherix i-Cite™ software for rapid product development. i-Cite™ software has provided a very flexible and rapid 2D and 3D Machine Vision application development solution for many years.

This combination of the Shark hardware platform and i-Cite™ software reduces time and effort significantly for new 3D Sensor development. A single Shark platform can be configured for up to 8 high speed, high resolution CMOSIS CMV imagers , 2 DLP light projectors and 8 LED/Laser projectors. Internal FPGA processing and high speed x4 PCIe connection of image data into the Intel or ARM processor memory provides for low latency and flexible image processing all in a compact and low power package.

The Shark platform and i-Cite™ software are being deployed first in the Coherix Saber 3D Semiconductor inspection products and the Coherix Predator 3D Bead inspection products. Next deployment will be in the Coherix Tru3D Error Proofing product family.

Dave Kelly, Vice President Engineering and Research & Development, of Coherix states “Our model is to leverage the Shark platform for our own 3D Vision products, but to also take on custom 3D sensor development projects, that in the past were not economical due to high engineering costs. For a commitment of as few as 50 units we will develop the product. The Shark platform and i-Cite™ software provides the basis for rapid new product development. We can go from concept to prototype in a matter of weeks.”

Coherix designs and delivers high-speed, high-definition, 3D metrology and inspection tools for product development and the management of manufacturing processes for the precision manufacturing and semiconductor industries. Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan the company has technical centers in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Coherix products are being utilized around the world at companies such as ASE, SPIL, Marvell, BorgWarner, Ford, Honda, Allison Transmission, Chrysler, General Motors, Micron, Infineon, John Deere, Volvo Technology Transfer and Aisin among others.
