Coherix Announces New Robust3D™ Error Proofing Solutions Available to Auto Customers
Ann Arbor, Michigan, May 3, 2017 – Coherix, Inc., a global leader in Three-Dimensional (3D) Machine Vision, announced three new Robust3D solutions — rolling finger follower assembly inspection, valve assembly verification, and end-of-line flexible inspection — are now available to automotive customers to meet their assembly error proofing needs.
Initially Coherix has targeted the auto powertrain market segment for its Robust3D product line. Robust3D piston assembly verification, the first solution of the product line, has been implemented in the US, Mexico and China, and listed in the Bill of Process (BOP) of major global automakers. It has been successfully field evaluated by top global automakers and recognized for its robustness and capability to cover a broad range of common piston assembly failure modes.
The three new Robust3D error proofing solutions were completed in 2016. Robust3D rolling finger follower assembly inspection and valve assembly verification provide automakers with revolutionary capability to detect common failure mode in the assembly of rolling finger followers and valve keepers. At the end of an engine final assembly line, proper installation of components such as electrical connectors, PCVs, coolant lines and tube clips are critical to the functioning and engine performance. Robust3D end-of-line flexible inspection assures those components are installed correctly.
“Robust3D is a reliable inline error proofing product line for automakers. Different from the temperamental 2D vision cameras or human inspection, it’s fast, and not affected by changes in part color or ambient light. All 3D data can be archived for future 3D traceability.” said Dwight Carlson, CEO of Coherix. “We will keep expanding the portfolio to better serve our customers.”
