The ShaPix® family of solutions is based on a state-of-the-art, non-contact sensor which is used to capture full 3D data on planar surfaces. The combination of the ShaPix sensors and ShaPix Analyzer Software, provides a complete surface topography solution capable of delivering a powerful understanding of how surfaces are designed, produced, controlled and how they interact with mating surfaces.

ShaPix sensors are large field of view (150 mm and up) interferometers, providing high resolution in Z. The unique multi-wavelength laser system and patented software algorithms enable millimeters of Z range in a single acquisition. This combination enables the ShaPix to measure a large variety of surfaces, ranging from brake pads to polished glass. Measurements are captured with no moving parts or scanning technology and produce 3D point clouds of surface topography with submicron resolution. With an entire toolbox of software analysis capabilities, operators can evaluate a color-graphic visualization of a surface with all of the precision and none of the headache of traditional tactile metrology.

The ShaPix full surface visualizations uncover shape characteristics and waviness problems to prevent quality spills, lower scrap rates, identify poor assembly fits and avoid expensive warranty repairs. ShaPix solutions range from plant floor hardened systems (ShaPix 3000 Series) for production audits to table top versions (ShaPix 1500 Series) for office or lab use. The large depth of focus and Z range reduces fixturing complexities like part tilt, focus and surface placement in Z which are common in other interferometric and confocal metrology systems. Without strict fixturing specifications, positioning a part for measurement is simple and allows for efficiency and streamlined setup. This leads to identifying the root of the problem early enough to fix it, minimize delays and meet production deadlines. Using the ShaPix holographic technology enables measurements within minutes instead of hours - providing actionable results that clearly communicate surface issues faster than ever.

Unlike its big brother, the ShaPix 3000 Series, the 1500 Series offers a smaller, compact and lightweight configuration with a 150mm x 150mm field of view. The compact sensor design provides flexibility for specific mechanical configurations to meet particular application needs - all at an affordable price. Easily configurable solutions range from stationary systems optimal for small components like pumps, to XY manual motion systems capable of measuring large machined surfaces like deck faces.

The 1500 Series measurement solutions inspect planar surfaces with micron level accuracy. With more than four million points of data, 50 nanometer vertical resolution and 80 micron lateral resolution, you can quickly see and understand part shape and form. These easily understood pictures provide fast feedback for process control improvement.

The 1500 Series is designed with the flexibility to be configured for specific application needs and is ideal for measuring parts less than 50 pounds. Regardless of the configuration, this metrology solution comes with the full ShaPix areal surface analysis software. With a small footprint, this solution is ideal for being incorporated into a variety of spaces.

The ShaPix 3000 Series includes models 3700, 3800 and 3120. All built on the ShaPix technology, these machines are configured to measure a large variety of parts. The difference between each system is based on their measurement cavity and their part-entry mechanism.  Industrial and plant-floor proven, the ShaPix 3000 Series systems have a large field of view and can measure a V8 deck face in two shots - providing the full surface profile faster than ever. The ShaPix 3000 Series is designed to be configured for specific application needs in a variety of plant environments. Typically installed near the machining process, the 3000 Series rapidly gives feedback directly to the machinist. Fully enclosed and not susceptible to environmental elements, the 3000 Series solutions are non-contact and can measure a variety of part materials, such as cast iron, aluminum and ceramic.
