Ann Arbor, Michigan, February 16, 2015 — Coherix completes delivery of Micro ShaPix Holographic 3D mapping system for the Naval Air Warfare Center to understand the structural integrity of very difficult to inspect critical components such as the interior surface of an arrestor shank.
The original Phase 2 SBIR project was awarded in July 2011 and delivered in the fall of 2013. A follow-on Option was awarded in the spring of 2014 to upgrade the system performance. The upgrades just delivered to complete the project include moving to the Coherix Shark™ technology for higher speed acquisitions and processing among other performance improvements. The system leverages the ability to scale the Coherix ShaPix Holographic technology, originally developed for precision industrial metrology, into an ultra-compact probe useful in tight quarters.
With this miniaturized solution the Navy is able to minimize the turnaround time for periodic maintenance of aircraft components and ensure that these refurbished aircraft components meet the requirements for reliable and safe operation for their crew.
